History of the company Monzesi

History of Viotto
Evolution of experience
The story begins at the end of the First World War in an industrial zone near the town of Monza. The founding of the company "Società Accomandataria Cooperativa Officine Meccaniche Monzesi" dates back to 1918, and it all began with a part machining program for other enterprises. The company gets a new impetus and starts designing and building drilling, turning, milling and special machines and, above all, centerless grinding machines.

Design and production of the first centerless grinding machine called "N ° 0" for Tavolazzi & Fumagalli belongs to the first half of the 1920s, followed by the "N ° 1" model, the production of which, along with the processing of parts by order of other companies, continues until 1953 of the year. 1939 was a turning point with the arrival of the technical engineer Giovanni Salvioni in Monzesi, who later will play an important role in determining the future of the company.

In 1953 a new model of the grinding machine was launched, also called "N ° 0". Since then, in addition to designing and manufacturing, all machines have been sold under the brand Officine Meccaniche Monzesi. In 1962, Marco Rossi sells the company Giovanni Salvioni and Stefano Sale, who gave rise to Officine Monzesi S.n.c., later changed to S.a.s.s. Until 1973, when Sala sells its shares to the descendants of Giovanni Salvioni, Gianluigi and Paolo.

Only in a few years, the daughters of Giovanni Salvioni, Angela and Gabriella, will join the company. This is the time in which the company thrives, thanks to a combination of human and technical capabilities with family management. In 1989, with the loss of Giovanni Salvioni, his descendants took over the management of the company.

This period can be classified as a modern story, and it is represented by four companies: Officine Monzesi - production of centreless grinding machines, O.M. Monvibro - automation systems, Officine Meccaniche
Viotto - manufacturing of grinding machines with two circles and the Monza corporation (founded in 1992) for marketing and after-sales support in the American market. Companies form a strong industrial group: it happened in the early 90's. Officine Monzesi produced traditional machines, reliable and highly appreciated by customers, but it's time for automated CNC systems. The whole production process had to be adjusted, which happened quite quickly. This technological turn, mainly conditioned by the needs of the market, led to the decision to manufacture all the relevant automation systems directly within the company.

The company was founded in 1882 by a descendant of the Visconti family as a producer of scissors. In 1965, the department for the repair and maintenance of cutlery was transformed into the company Officine Meccaniche Viotto (Eng. VIsconti OTTOrino), which produces automatic grinding machines for scissors and knives. In the early 70's Officine Meccaniche Viotto s.r.l. begins production of grinding machines with two circles. In 1999, Viotto became part of the Monzesi group, and under the management of Gianluigi Salvioni the company was completely restructured and reorganized. Today, the entire production line consists of high-tech advanced grinding machines, both in vertical and horizontal configuration
